Electronic Proceedings In the Thursday plenary session at the Houston IETF meeting in November of 1993, there was a very strong consensus among the attendees that the proceedings of the IETF meetings be made available electronically. The Secretariat had already been working on this project, but as a result of the Houston meeting, it was moved up on the list of priorities. An incomplete version of the Houston proceedings was made available via Gopher and FTP. It was incomplete in that it lacked slides from most of the working groups sessions and plenary presentations. The electronic version of this set of proceedings is complete (i.e., it contains all of the information that the hard copy does), and is available via: 1. FTP from ftp.ietf.cnri.reston.va.us under the /ietf-online-proceedings directory; the directory structure should be self-explanatory. 2. Gopher from gopher.ietf.cnri.reston.va.us. 3. WWW from URL "http://www.ietf.cnri.reston.va.us/home.html". In addition, a WAIS database is available for searching the attendees list. The Gopher and WWW interfaces incorporate this database. To access the database directly (i.e., via the "waissearch" command, or other WAIS clients), use the WAIS server on ``ietf.cnri.reston.va.us'' and search the database ``att94''. Since this is the first complete electronic proceedings, it should be treated as a ``beta'' release. We are very interested in improving the on-line version with time, so please send comments and suggestions to proceedings@cnri.reston.va.us. For the sake of making the proceedings more useful, saving printing and mailing costs, and being kind to the environment, our hope is to have the on-line version of the proceedings be the primary product, with the hard copy one being an alternative to people not fully connected to the Internet.
