Working Group Workshop This workshop was a 60-minute tutorial on the IETF standards process and the IETF working group structure. Though originally intended for working group chairs as a ``training'' session, this workshop has been shown to be interesting to a much broader audience of people who are curious to learn about the ways of the IETF. It also acted as a refresher course for current working group chairs with pointers on running IETF working groups and BOFs. Some of the issues included: o The IETF publishing process: Internet-Drafts versus RFCs o The RFC series: Informational versus Experimental versus standards-track o The management and review structure o The chain of appeal o The role of a working group chair o The basic workings of a working group o Working group creation o The standards submission and review process A 10-minute ``round robin'' question and answer period, with the workshop leader and veteran working group chairs in attendance, provided additional input and clarification to the workings of the IETF process.
