Editor's note: These minutes have not been edited. IETF User Services Area Report Montreal, Quebec, Canada Joyce K. Reynolds (USAD) Six active working groups were held in the User Services Area (USV) of the IETF in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Two active working groups have completed their goals and are in process of shutting down. ====================================================== =================== Humanities and Arts WG (HARTS) session chaired by Scott Stoner and Janet Max. This evening session specifically focused on the review of the draft document, "Humanities and Arts: Sharing Center Stage on the Internet". The attendees skimmed the latest version of the document, and identified any omissions. It was then reviewed by each section. Additional writing assignments were assigned/reassigned. This group will continue to work the on document via the HARTS email list and have a completed Internet Draft in place before the next IETF. ====================================================== =================== Internet School Networking (ISN) session chaired by Jodi Ito. Jodi Ito opened the evening session at 7:30, with a welcome to attendees and providing the ISN mailing list pointer. The update to FYI 22 - FAQ for Schools was published as an Informational RFC (FYI22, RFC1941). The ISN web site has been moved to: http://campus.merit.net/iswg. Introductions were made around the room. Next on the agenda was a discussion of should ISN keep going or shut down. The list of potential "new projects" to work on included: Sepi's help desk support documents, guidelines for putting together request for proposals, and dissemination of information (fax, publications, CD Rom, etc.). The meeting adjorned at 8:45. ====================================================== =================== Site Security Handbook WG (SSH), chaired by Barbara Fraser. The SSH working group met once during the Montreal IETF meeting. We reviewed the current draft for major problems and finding none, assigned chapters to be reviewed for a last pass. We anticipate completing this review over the next 4 weeks. At that time, we'll submit a final draft for submission to the IESG. The group also reviewed Gary Malkin's first draft of the Users' Security Handbook and made writing assignments for that document. We anticipate completing this document before the summer '97 IETF meeting. ====================================================== =================== Training Materials (TRAINMAT) chaired by Jill Foster, Margaret Issacs, and Mark Prior. The TRAINMAT WG's Internet-Draft was submitted to the IESG for approval and sent on to the RFC Editor for publication as an Informational RFC. ====================================================== =================== User Glossary (USERGLOS) chaired by Gary Malkin. The User Glossary WG's Internet-Draft was submitted to the IESG for approval and sent on to the RFC Editor for publication as an Informational RFC. ====================================================== =================== User Services Working Group (USWG) chaired by Joyce K. Reynolds. A report on IETF User Services Area activities was presented by Joyce Reynolds, which included USV Area Working Group Status and related USV Area I-Ds. A pointer was provided on a multilingual users glossary. David Hartland, convenor of TERENA's ISUS (Information Services and User Support) provided an overview and report of their meeting, which was held in Budapest, Hungary. Discussion/Participation of the strategic intent of the USV Area in the IETF for the next two years took up the rest of the session time. ====================================================== =================== Guide for Internet Standards Writer WG (STDGuide) This WG is a combined endeavor of the USV and OPS Areas of the IETF.
