Updated 6 October 2015 with thanks to AvB, Elizabeth, shallow_depths and the Xenographer for their reviews.
Many thanks to my beta readers Adrao, Baldur Brückner, Ben Crispin, Bora Bosna, Brian Rushton, Chris Banks, Jacic, Joseph Geipel, and Kenneth Sanders.
Any remaining stupidity is my own.
The stories in the coda are all taken from the 1998 Conway Maritime Press edition of the 1724 book A General History of the Robberies & Murders of the Most Notorious Pirates by Captain Charles Johnson (published in Great Britain).
Player Information
You can click on the "Show Stats" button at the top of your screen at any time to see your personality, relationships, and skills developing. It's particularly useful when you want to know where your strengths lie before making a decision.
Early decisions will give you "free" stats. Later decisions may require a combination of statistics to succeed.
If you'd like to have an idea of some of the goals you can aim for, click on the "Achievements" button at any time, but be aware that it's impossible to achieve everything in a single play-through. When you have achieved something, a message will pop up to let you know.
It's not possible to go back and change a decision after you've made it (except by restarting). Don't worry, it's not as easy to die as you might think (at least, not until Chapter Nine).
This game does not depict alcohol consumption in a realistic manner. Because pirates.
This game has options for implied enjoyable sex. Because pirates.
This game includes violence, and plenty of it. Because pirates.
