the PHOTOPIA readme ------------------- PHOTOPIA uses specially colored text. I think it enhances the story a great deal, and think of the work as incomplete without it. However, I am aware that there is a segment of the IF community that abhors color. I am also sadly aware that only a few interpreters correctly support color. On the PC, for instance, DOS Frotz and ITF implement color correctly, with DOS Frotz having the added advantage of also supporting extended ASCII. WinFrotz and Wzip, on the other hand, do not implement color correctly. I'm not sure how the interpreters for other machines match up in this regard. So if you'd like to experience PHOTOPIA as the author intended it, and have an interpreter that correctly implements color, please run the PHOTOPIA.Z5 file. But if you suspect your interpreter can't handle color, or if you simply prefer to play without it, please select the PHOTOBW.Z5 file. Longtime players of IF should be advised that PHOTOPIA does not support the verbs ASK and TELL, nor does it allow orders (such as MONKEY, GIVE ME THE BANANA.) To converse with someone, please use the verb TALK TO (for example, TALK TO THE PIRATE.) Even such commands as YES and NO are subsumed under the aegis of TALK TO. TALK TO is your friend. Also, not to give too much away about the nature of the piece, but if you should lose track of who you are, the command "WHO AM I" is available. Comments or questions should be addressed to Opal O'Donnell at o-3@mailcity.com (that's a lower-case "o", a hyphen, and the numeral three.) Thanks for reading this file, and enjoy the story.
