To whom it may concern at UCSD.EDU: APRS114.ZIP CONTAINS THE EXECUTABLE, README'S AND DEMOS Greetings: I attended the local amsat meeting at Intelsat headquarters on Saturday, July 17 1993. While there I got a copy of Bob Bruninga's (WB4APR) Automatic Packet Reporting System (APRS) Ver. 1.14. Bob personally gave me permission to upload his program to the Internet. This program has a lot of potential uses for amateur packet radio. It can be used for general support of public events, emergencies and data collection. The main function of the program is to display the current location of a particular station on a map, two or more stations within a locality make a network and information is propagated throughout the network via beacons, mail and other mechanisms. Bob has included documentation, maps (North American, instructions for creating your own) and some scenarios to demonstrate some of the functionality of the system. So, plug n' play. 73's de John Grimes, kd3wy jeg@ddsdx2.jhuapl.edu kd3wy@wa3wza.md.usa PS: Bob expects version 1.15 to be out soon, I will upload it as soon as I get it. Also, I would like to see some encouragement for international use. Everything was scanned with MacAfee's v106.
