The agenda was approved. A92/1 Protocoll from work group meeting A91/1 The protocoll was accepted with the following comments: The protocoll should be sent to L. Dempsey The protocoll should be stored on the Nordic SR file archive, as ASCII file. If Alba has to reprogrammed, it will not be used for the project. In stead a test program will be developed at BRS. Ole Husby will be the main participant from BIBSYS. A92/2 Information on tasks performed by the work group since the last meeting ISODE is not available on other IBM platforms than AIX. No realistic alternative to ISODE has been found. BIBSYS and LIBRIS will probably use a UNIX machine as a front end. Geir Pedersen will copy documents from Thinking Machines, on implementations of Z39.50 to our file archive. The Coalition for Network Information is a working on making information available online. CNI has established a group of organisations working on implementations of Z39.50. The leader of this group is Clifford Lynch. Sun has implemented Z39.50 based on RPC. There is a discussion on using TCP/IP, or implementation on a full OSI stack,. The European standard is that 5. 6. and 7. layer should be OSI. There are no implementations of SR now, but several are starting: ION will implement ILL first, but are planning to implement SR afterwards. UDT are working on ILL only. Work has started on a system for periodicals in Karlsruhe, which is going to use SR. There are some plans in England on implementing SR, but they have problems with financing their projects. Juha Hakala will send Z39.50 ver. II rev. IV as E-mail LSP have not answered our questions on their status. A92/3 Draft specifications for the SR protocoll machine Liv Aa. Holm completes a revised draft as soon as possible A92/4 Separate or integrated protocoll machine There are two different models: 1. The protocoll machine is integrated in the library application. 2. The protocoll machine is a separate application . Decision: The Nordic SR-net project will work on developing a separate protocoll machine. A92/5 API. Definitions of the interface to the protocoll machine. Geir Pedersen and Jan Arve Laegreid continue working on the API, and present a new draft on the next work group meeting. A92/6 Status for the access to Unix machines and ISODE The main participants all have access to Unix machines and ISODE. TKAY don't have to test ISODE, as they will be using the VTLS implementation of Z39.50. FEK, BIBSYS and UBO test ISODE. Geir Pedersen prepares the test, in cooperation with USIT. The next work group meetin should use at leat 1 hour to go discuss ISODE. A92/7 The next work group meeting The next meeting will be held in Reykjavik, february 20., 1992 A92/8 Miscellanous The devaluation of Finnish marks reduces our economic resources. There is a chance that Nordinfo will give us compensation. The meeting was adjourned at 4.30pm.
