Designed to filter out critical, user-specified information from hundreds of thousands of articles posted everyday on Usenet, Hummingbird NewsWatch indexes the information contained in news groups, delivering the results as customizable HTML pages or scheduled e-mail messages. Hummingbird News Server Hummingbird NewsWatch includes the Hummingbird News Server, installed as a Windows NT service, and designed to run on a separate machine to ensure the highest performance under heavy user loads. Hummingbirds News Server features self administering, worry-free setup and operation, and supports downstream feeds and private discussion groups. Its GUI interface lets administrators configure all news operations in minutes across the network. To more efficiently match the news feed to organizational needs and resources, the expiration date of articles in each news group can be set on the basis of elapsed time or disk space consumed.
