This is the Local Host DNS-Look-Upper, written by Tetrix Engineering. It's freeware, but if you like it, please send EMail to fanmail@tetrix.internet-eireann.ie telling me that you like it. You might also wish to try the Tetrix Offline Mail and Newsreader. More info on that can be found on the WWW at: http://www.internet-eireann.ie/tetrix/trpinfo.html or http://www.internet-eireann.ie/tetrix/index.html To set-up LHOST, make an Icon for it in program manager. Easy :-) Operation is Straightforward: Run it, and click on the DO IT button. The name of your host will show at the bottom, preceeded by a figure indicating the length of the name. What does it do, and what's the point ? --------------------------------------- Lhost uses the gethostname() lookup, which is used by applications to get the name (and subsequently other info) about the local host. This may prove a useful utility to have, particular if you're running winsock on a LAN. Anyhow, it's only a few KBytes. Other applets may be available from: fileserver@tetrix.internet-eireann.ie Send EMail to above and put INDEX.DOC for an Index of available files.
