Create the project's work breakdown structure
A WBS is a decomposition (deliverable-oriented) of a project into smaller components that covers the total scope of the project (see sample bellow).
[this an excerpt from a possible work breakdown structure of a house construction project]
First, you should identify the major project deliverables (components).
Then, you should decompose the deliverables into smaller components, until they are presented in sufficient detail to define the activities necessary to create them.
To insert a subdeliverable or an activity (task) right-click on the corresponding deliverable and select
the
Insert subtask command.
Hint: Many tables/elements are sensitive to mouse right-click
command; give it a try whenever you think you "need something" (Mac users that have one-button mouse
could simulate a right-click by keeping the "Ctrl" key pressed while cliking mouse button).
The tree structure of deliverables and subdeliverables can be also achieved by listing them one after another
consequently indenting and outdenting them as necessary by using the corresponding icons in the toolbar
(

and

) or the commands in the right-click menu.
If necessary, the elements can be moved up and down on the same level in the tree structure by using

and

commands.
Hint: Keyboard shortcuts are available for most of the commands; to move a
task up for example, while having the task line selected, simply press "Ctrl-Up Arrow".
To see the key shortcut for a certain button just move the mouse cursor over that button and wait a little bit until the associated hint comes up.
