This BBR RM30 locomotive is owned by BBR, Beitbridge Bulawayo Railway. The BBR line became operational in July 1999 and was commissioned
by the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe on 1st September 1999. Its main business is the provision of bulk transport services over its
350 kilometres railroad link on the North – South corridor between Beitbridge (at the border of Zimbabwe and South Africa) and Bulawayo
into hinterland. BBR works with such a business model that they have built and paid for the new Cape gauge line together with its bridges
and other infrastructure and then they have gotten a 30 years exclusive right to use the new line. After that, it will be integrated into
Zimbabwe's national railways. This locomotive is of the type RM-30 also known as Grindrod GL30SCC.

The second locomotive of the same train is an old EMD built machine now owned and rented by the South African company Traxtion.
Traxtion has been actively promoting open access rail services in South Africa and for this purpose they have purchased and
modernised a large number of old diesel machines and are now renting them, in this case apparently to BBR.
