Well, whatever that response was about using SoundRecorder - it wasn't answerin
g the question.  Yeah, you can use SoundRecorder IF you have the devices to do
it.  Microsoft has a public domain device driver that will allow you to play
WAV files through a regular PC speaker (quality of sound depends on the PC).  T
his will let you play, but not record sounds.  If you wish to have both and use
the OLE to put sounds in spreadsheets, etc.  You probably should look into Micr
oSoft's sound board.  Along with letting you record, play and edit high
quality sound, it has the ability to interpret voice commands.  Oh yeah, the
device driver for the PC speaker is on CompuServe listed as SPEAK.EXE.  It's
also available via anonymous FTP at WUARCHIVE.WUSTL.EDU.  I don't have the
MicroSoft board, but I do have the PC speaker driver and it seems to work
quite nicely.
