Introduction 1.1 What is WEBactive ? WEBactive v1.00 is a World Wide Web Server (HTTP Server) for Windows 95/NT which allows you to create your own Website on any PC running Windows 95/NT with a TCP/IP Connection to the Internet. WEBactive was designed to be easy-to-use and installation as well as configuration can be done within minutes.The advantage of this is that almost anyone with an Internet Connection, be it dialup or leased connectivity, will be able to run their own Web server. Another benefit is that WEBactive can be used for either Personal or Corporate Applications and automatically adapts to your available hardware. For example the more system resources are available the more threads will be made available for responses to incoming requests and the more efficient WEBactive will run. In conclusion you will find that WEBactive is the most easy-to-use, efficient, professional and affordable World Wide Web Server on the market. 1.2 System Requirements Supported Operating Systems Microsoft Windows 95 Microsoft Windows NT Recommended HTML Client Browsers We recommend the usage of Netscape Communication Corporation's Netscape Navigator or Microsoft's Internet Explorer however any HTML browser should be compatible with WEBactive. Please note that WEBactive will not execute under Windows 3.1 with or without WIN32S extensions. Recommended Hardware Because WEBactive is a Windows based Application it will run on any machine capable of running Windows 95 or Windows NT. However the performance will be based on the type and speed of hardware which you have installed. WEBactive has been successfully tested on the following machines : Intel 80486 DX2-66mhz, 8MB RAM, with Windows 95. Intel 80486 DX4-100mhz, 16MB RAM with Windows NT Intel Pentium 100mhz, 32MB RAM with Windows NT We recommend a minimum of 8 MB RAM when running WEBactive. 1.3 Installing WEBactive To install WEBactive to your hard disk please follow the following instructions : 1) Installation from Archive If you downloaded ACTIVE100.ZIP the following procedure will be applicable to you. PLEASE NOTE: You will need PKWare's PKUNZIP.EXE to uncompress the file. 1) From the DOS Command Prompt enter the following : PKUNZIP active100.zip NB! You must be in the directory which active100.zip is! (This will uncompress the files into the current directory) 2) From the DOS Command Prompt type SETUP and press ENTER If you were supplied with original copies of WEBactive on disk the following procedure will be applicable to you. 1) Insert the WEBactive original disk in the disk drive. 2) From the Windows95 / Windows NT desktop select from the launchpad START then RUN then BROWSE followed by entering A:\SETUP.EXE (assuming you put the disk in DRIVE A: ) and then select OK. 1.4 Software Copyright & License Agreement The use and copying of this product is subject to a license agreement.
