WorldFlash News Ticker Version 0.98 for Win95/NT4.0 Program Requirements This release (.98) requires Windows 95/NT4, and any compatible direct or dial-up Internet service. 16Mbytes of RAM and a 14.4Kb or faster modem are recommended. In addition, you will need to be running in SVGA (800x600 or 1024x768, 256 color or more) video modes to get the most out of this program. You will need about 1Mbyte of free disk space to install and run WorldFlash. The supported Web browsers are Netscape 2.0 or higher, and Internet Explorer 3.0. Installation Instructions Installation of WorldFlash is easy, but you must be comfortable about handling "ZIP" files to proceed. First, download and save to disk the file WFLASH.ZIP (approx 240k). If you haven't installed Microsoft's WININET.DLL Internet Libraries, you may need to run this program: WINTDIST.EXE (approx 273K); if you have previously installed Internet Explorer 3.0 then you can skip this step. After downloading the ZIP file, create a directory (i.e. folder) on your hard disk and unzip the WFLASH.ZIP into it. Make sure you have a running connection to the Internet (e.g. you can browse with Netscape). Finally, run the program WRLDFLSH.EXE in the directory you created earlier. The first time you run it, take the time to fill out the Preferences information (use the right-mouse button to bring up the WorldFlash menu). Optional Sound Effects Installation You may have heard that there are some sound effects that can be triggered on certain events. This is true. If you want to hear this for yourself, you will need to download yet another file, NFSOUNDS.ZIP (approx 101K), and unzip its contents to a subdirectory of your WorldFlash folder, called Resources. You need to create a new folder called Resources inside the folder you just created for the program files. The sound files need to go there. If any of this seems like it might be a bit too technically challenging, I suggest you wait until the official release of WorldFlash which will have a no-fuss automatic installation procedure.
