GatherTALK Final BETA 4 Full Version Features: ======== 5 people conferencing using 28.8kbps modems GatherTalk supports up to 5 people conferencing using 28.8kbps modems and 3 people conferencing using even 14.4kbps modems. For Ethernet or ISDN connections, the number of people supported in conferencing can further increase. Private conferencing mode support GatherTalk uses parallel transfer mode in conferencing. It requires no intermediate conference servers for connections. Therefore, conferencing groups becomes independent of services provided by conference servers and private conferencing can be formed. Public chatroom support GatherTalk does support chatroom services by using HTTP protocol with CGI techniques. All Web servers are able to be a GatherTalk Server (GTalkS). An experimental GTalkS is set up at http://www.cixt.cuhk.edu.hk/gtalks/GTalkS.exe Please download GatherTalk and take a try on it. Low delay Internet voice transmission GatherTalk offers direct connections with remotes in parallel form. No intermediate processing is required. It lowers the total time delay down to 72ms. Adaptive computation requirements GatherTalk checks your computing speed adaptively during connection time and adjust the computing capacity dynamically to fit your computer. GatherTalk supports minimum 486DX2-66 CPUs. The faster the processor, the better is the voice quality. Adaptive transmission rates GatherTalk uses different transmission rates for different speeds of Internet connections and for different number of people connected. For higher bit rate transmission pathways, the transmission delay is shorter. Adaptive to transmission paths GatherTalk adapts to the robustness of the transmission paths and dynamically adjust the receive buffer size to produce the best reception quality.
