NaviServer Beta Version 14 Installation --------------------------------------- NaviSoft is happy to provide you with beta version 14 of the exciting NaviServer system! The NaviServer is an advanced Web server with so many new features it is in a class by itself! Version 14 is a maintenance release with just two new features (see below). It is likely this will be the last beta release before the final product ships. Installation ------------ Unix installation instructions are listed in the INSTALL file (abbreviated instructions for experienced Unix systems administrators are listed in SHORT_INSTALL). Windows NT installation instructions are listed in the INSTALL_NT file. New Features ------------ * In preparation for final release, various debugging facilities have been removed which will allow for much tighter memory usage. * Database connection errors are handled differently. Now when a disconnection occurs, the NaviServer will continue handling the requests it can and continuously try to establish a new connection. * The table operations have been switched to Tcl operations which means that they can be replaced or modified easily by the user. * The directory listing functionality has been enhanced. Besides looking nicer, it now supports user configurable mappings of MIME types to icons. * Two new keys have been added to the DbServices section of the configuration file. AbsMaxToReturn specifies the absolute maximum number of rows that can be returned on a given user search. MaxLookAhead specifies the maximum numbers of rows the NaviServer will examine before setting the column widths when formatting tables.
