Super Mail Transfer Package 1.9 Full Featured Mail Server For Windows NT What does this program do? ************************** This is a server program combines both SMTP and POP3 functions on Windows NT. It works silently in the background so that you cannot feel it. You can use any mail client program you like, but remember to modify the SMTP and POP3 server settings of the mail client to the machine that this program is installed within. Features ******** * Easy Installation. * Provides both SMTP and POP3 ( RFC821, RFC1522 and RFC1725 compliant ). * Creates mailboxes with friendly interface. * Creates mailboxes for users under NT automatically. * Supports APOP secure login. Password could be encrypted in MD5 and sent over Internet. You must use mail clients that support APOP to utilize this new function. Eudora (lite and Pro ) and GNU Emacs support this function. * Rejects huge message specified by administrator and prevents your system from the attack of "message bomb." * Rejects messages from specified email address and reduces junk mail. * Every user can forward his message to specified email address. * Limits the size of each mailbox. * Automatically remove out-of-date messages. * Supports multiple mailing list and public channel. * Supports host alias. * Supports automatic document responder. * Coexists with firewall system. * Remote Administration. * Dedicated time-out detection. Before Installation ******************* If you've already installed a previous version of SMTP, please follow the instructions in the "Uninstall the program" first, or you won't be able to install this package. Upgrade from 1.4x ***************** Please run upgrad.exe to convert account information from 1.4 to 1.9 after installation. Installation ************ You can type the following command under command prompt to invoke SMTP: net start "Super Mail Transfer Package" or smtp start instead. If an error message, such as "no such service", is responded by NT, please type the following command under command prompt to install it manually: d:\path\smtp install d:\path\ where d:\path\ is the complete path of the directory of executable, mailbox and database. If you install the software by setup program, the directory of mailbox and database is the same as the place you put SMTP in. It is highly recommended to create a new directory for both SMTP and database files, which allows you to set the access control of the directory.
