With experience ranging from business and politics to
sport, Italian nobleman Luca Cordero di Montezemolo
returned to Ferrari in 1991 to head the company's road car
and racing operations.

His first stint with the marque was in the mid-l970s, when
he oversaw an earlier renaissance of the team's Formula
One fortunes that produced two Drivers and three
Constructors World Championships.

Born in Bologna in 1947, Montezemolo trained as a lawyer
at Romes La Sapienze University and Columbia University
in New York.

The young protege of Fiat boss Gianni Agnelli was
appointed Ferrari's racing director in 1973, quickly
succeeding in fulfilling his brief to return Ferrari to
the winner's podium.

After 1977, Montezemolo served as Fiat's director of
public relations and later ran the group's publishing arm
until 1981.

After a period as managing director of the Cinzano drinks
concern in the mid-l980s, Montezemolo revived his sports
management career as president of the first Italian
America's Cup challenge, and subsequently the legendary
Juventus football team.

These efforts culminated in his running of the ltalia 90
World Cup football tournament, for which he received high
praise.

Since returning to Ferrari, Montezemolo has been as
successful in revitalising its road car business as in
rebuilding the racing team, producing a bold new range of
models, consolidating the international sales network, and
launching the marque in emerging markets such as China.
